The tools and thinking that make large organisations run efficiently have traditionally required large budgets and large teams. So growing businesses make do: spreadsheets instead of systems, manual hand-offs instead of automated workflows, processes that depend on one person knowing how they work. That's the problem Marathon was built to solve. The same engineering rigour that runs inside organisations with hundreds of millions in revenue, applied to businesses that have been priced out of it.

I'm Ian Maskell. I spent many years designing complex systems at global engineering organisations such as Siemens, Audi and Chrysler. Businesses with demanding operations and zero tolerance for systems that fail. That experience taught me what good engineering looks like: understand the actual problem first, scope it honestly, build it to survive contact with reality, and document it so it outlasts the person who built it.

I founded Marathon because I kept seeing the same problem from the other side. Growing businesses doing everything manually, not because they lacked ambition, but because the tools and thinking that fix it had always been priced for organisations ten times their size. The methodology isn't expensive. Only the overhead that usually comes with it is.

When you work with Marathon, you work with me directly. I scope the project, I build it, and I'm accountable for the result. No handoffs, no account managers, no gap between what you asked for and what gets built. If something needs adjusting after delivery, you reach the person who built it.
